Practice Problems 5b – Due Monday, November 25 (before class)

Prepare your solutions in LaTeX and submit in Canvas, like you would do for a regular assignment, but remember not to put your name on your paper!

  1. Textbook, Problem 18.2
Make your presentation of this analysis as clean as possible by defining clear notation for various events, and describing various probabilities using proper conditional probabilities using these variables. With the proper notation, your answers can be clean, clear, and short.

  2. Textbook, Problem 19.4

Extra Credit (up to 10 points – like a solo assignment, must be done individually – working with other students is not allowed)

  1. Textbook, Problem 19.25
Note: This problem uses expected values, which we may not get to in class on Wednesday. Hopefully you have seen and worked with this concept before, but if not then you’ll need to read ahead.
