Welcome to the UNCG Saxophone Studio web site. We hope you find it interesting and informative. Please take time to look around, ask questions or make comments. Our teaching philosophy is to provide students with experience in all styles, with special emphasis in classical and jazz performance. We strive to give students the tools to succeed in the music profession while stressing a liberal-arts style education. The Saxophone Studio draws students from around the nation, Canada, Taiwan, and Europe. UNCG offers a full range of degrees for saxophonists including:
Bachelor's, Master's, and Doctoral degrees in saxophone performance.
Bachelor's degrees in Jazz Studies with an emphasis in saxophone.
Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Music Education with a major in Saxophone.
Bachelor of Arts degrees in Music (saxophone emphasis) and an outside field.
Combined Bachelor of Arts degree (in music) with a Master's degree in Business Administration (The Pegasus Program).
Master's degrees in Woodwind Performance with an emphasis in Saxophone.
The UNCG Saxophone studio typically averages 16 saxophone majors, 4 -6 of whom are graduate students. Students perform in a diverse mix of settings including:
Saxophone Quartets
Saxophone Ensemble
A Wind Ensemble and two Symphonic Bands
Two Big Bands
Small Jazz Ensembles
Weekly Saxophone repertoire class
Monthly woodwind recitals
2-3 Saxophone Studio Recitals each semester
