This is the agreement which we [ie., Philip Augustus] caused to be sworn in our soul, namely that we will accept the daughter of the landgrave of Thuringia as our wife, unless she be so ugly that she displeases us [nisi ita esset indecens quod nobis displiceret]. We agree to this if the said landgrave will get the lord pope to allow a divorce to be celebrated between us and Queen Ingeburga, our wife. And if we give him sufficient mony, he will absolve us from this agreement. Done at Paris, in the year of the Lord 1210, in the month of November.
