Each summer, students from Texas, Ohio, New York, and other states come to Greensboro to fill internships at companies like Volvo Group, Procter & Gamble, Qorvo, and Lincoln Financial Group.
And, UNC Greensboro Housing and Residence Life helps them feel at home. Through the summer intern housing program, 32 summer interns enjoyed affordable, convenient housing at the Union Residence Hall this year, alongside UNCG summer school students.
The companies the students worked for were pleased with the welcoming environment their interns enjoyed, and the students themselves were happy with the convenience and comforts of the UNCG residence halls.
“I liked the safety, and the the ability to meet others,” shared one intern, Emily Walker. “It was close to everything needed… access to the gym and furniture were included. UNCG was the only option that was able to accommodate the time frame of my internship.”
Program information sent to local hiring managers and corporate offices has increased interest, and HRL welcomes future requests. The program is available to current college students aged 18 and older who will participate in a summer internship or research program.
Prospective summer residents are encouraged to apply on the Intern Housing Application page. Future rate information and dates of availability are updated in mid-January for the following summer following.
