Parents, relatives, friends, and classmates will fill the stands of the Greensboro Coliseum to watch that long-awaited moment for more than 1,900 UNC Greensboro graduation candidates. The moment they cross the stage with their classmates to receive their diploma will be a culmination of years of hard work and study.
This year, UNCG will hold its undergraduate and graduate ceremonies on Friday, December 8, 2023. In the morning, 1,398 baccalaureate degrees will be awarded to undergraduate candidates. In the afternoon, 373 master’s degrees and 97 doctoral degrees will be conferred at a second ceremony for the graduate level, totaling 1,868 degrees for all candidates.
Melissa Lozada, an undergraduate from Charlotte, North Carolina who earned a bachelor of arts in psychology with a minor in musical theatre, will invite her fellow graduation candidates to savor the moment when she gives the student address. She will encourage them to celebrate with their families and look back fondly on all those who helped them get to this special day.
The graduate ceremony’s keynote speaker is Dr. Lindsay Draper, DNP, a UNCG alumna who was a staff nurse for Cone Health before returning to UNCG as a clinical assistant professor, and is now the director of Faculty Credentialing, Compliance and Special Initiatives with the School of Nursing.
The degrees are in a broad array of subjects, including applied economics, English, kinesiology, and music education. The candidates are eager to apply the work they undertook in classrooms, research ventures, internships, and trips abroad. Whether the next step is on the payroll of an established company, a small business on Main Street, in a new classroom as a teacher, or furthering their education with another degree, UNCG Spartans show they have what it takes to excel and to create remarkable, real-world impact every day.
Both ceremonies will be held at the Greensboro Coliseum on Gate City Boulevard in Greensboro. Commencement will be held at 11 a.m. and will be followed by the Doctoral and Master’s Commencement at 3:30 p.m.
