BIO

Amy Brown is an adjunct lecturer in Communication Studies. She completed her B.A. in Speech Communications (UNCG), her M.A. in Communication (University of Memphis) and Post-Master’s Certificate in Web-Based Learning (Appalachian State). Her interests include Social Constructivism, Universal Design for Learning (UDL), faculty and student wellness, collaborative learning, educational technology and metacognition.

Amy served as the Associate Director in the Teaching Innovations Office/University Teaching and Learning Commons from 2017-2023. Previously, she was the Director of eLearning at Guilford Technical College for 12 years. Here, she facilitated in the creation of the eLearning department, led efforts to create and redesign over 300 online courses and 27 online programs, led a Learning Management System migration and developed professional development initiatives for online and hybrid faculty members. Ms. Brown is the recipient of the Teaching Innovation Award in 2008 from the Guilford Technical Community College Board of Trustees and the President’s Award for Outstanding Service Innovation from Guilford Technical Community College.
