If you have an interest in fashion, the Department of Consumer, Apparel, and Retail Studies (CARS) offers the best preparation for becoming what we see in you: a work-ready professional with all of the experience, knowledge, and networking you need to build a successful career. Students pursuing their Master of Science in Retail Studies who have opted into the concentration in Global Apparel and Retail Management can leverage their degrees in a number of ways: 

  • Position themselves for advancement at a current apparel or retail company 
  • Learn what it takes to open their own apparel retail store 
  • Gain access to jobs in the exciting world of the fashion business 

In this non-thesis concentration, students will select coursework that forms one of two tracks: either Merchandising and Brand Management or Retail Consumer Data management.

Internships from North Carolina to New York and beyond allow you to work for the brands that inspire you such as Polo Ralph Lauren, Saks, Inc., Belk Stores, JCPenney, and VF Corporation (The North Face, Wrangler, Tommy Hilfiger, Nautica).

Potential careers include brand management, consumer research, marketing administration, retail merchandising, and retail buying and planning.
  • Coursework in this certificate program is transferable to the MS in Retail Studies.
