The School of Theatre offers the MFA in drama with a concentration in Theatre for Youth. The MFA is a terminal master’s degree designed to develop individual artistry and provide advanced, specialized training in youth theatre. The MFA is accredited by the National Association of Schools of Theatre. Our graduate program offers rich and varied experiences that combine theory and practice and demands the development of skills and talents. Curricular offerings are matched by an extensive co-curricular program that includes opportunities to participate in the School’s extensive theatre production program, including UNCG Theatre and N.C. Theatre for Young People.
Program Distinctions
- UNC Greensboro is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC) and the National Association of Schools of Theatre (NAST).
- The School of Theatre is a member of numerous theatre organizations, including USITT, SETC, TCG, and AATE.
The Student Experience
- Students are expected to participate in campus productions through the North Carolina Theatre for Young People (NCTYP) production series throughout the duration of the program.
- Theatre students enjoy continuous opportunities to meet, learn from, and engage with leading industry professionals and guest artists.
- A range of workshops, masterclasses, presentations, and class visits keep our students abreast of the latest developments and techniques across the industry and further enhance their prospects for a wide range of careers.
After Graduation
- Students who graduate from the program are well prepared with the skills needed to succeed and work professionally as artists, teachers, scholars, technicians, managers, and advocates.
