Headshot of Dr. Tina Chestnut.

Please join me in welcoming the newest member of the Office of Institutional Integrity and General Counsel, Dr. Catina “Tina” Chestnut, who will serve as UNC Greensboro’s Title IX Coordinator. Tina will report to me and will oversee UNC Greensboro’s enterprise-wide Title IX compliance program. I am more than pleased that Dr. Chestnut is now a member of the OIIGC team. Her phenomenal UNC Greensboro experience and education have already served the University well. We look forward to continuing working with her in her new role.

For the past 5 years, Tina has served as the Principal of the Moss Street Partnership School, where she mentored 40+ staff members and 30+ undergraduate students. During her time leading Moss Street, she was responsible for day-to-day policy implementation and reporting as related to all federal programs, including Title IX and Clery, and she did so across diverse populations. Her compliance obligations included serving as the deputy Title IX coordinator responsible for the Partnership School. She also regularly collaborated with both local and university stakeholders to ensure the school’s success of students.

A life-long educator, Tina previously taught math and science on the middle and high school levels in Guilford and Rockingham counties and served as principal at John W. Dillard Elementary School, Moss Street Elementary School, Bessemer Elementary School, and as an assistant principal at Dalton L. McMichael High School.

Tina is also an alumna, who received her bachelor’s degree from UNC Greensboro and her Doctor of Education in Educational Leadership and Cultural Foundations, where she focused on a principal’s efforts to implement culturally responsive parent, family, and community engagement. She also earned her Master’s of School Administration and Education Specialist degrees at Appalachian State University.

I want to add a special note of thanks to Kristen Bonatz, Deputy General Counsel, and Murphie Chappell, Associate General Counsel, who coordinated the search and conducted interviews for this important role, as well as Dr. Alan Boyette, Dr. Brett Carter, Patricia Lynch, Chris Jasso, Bria Walters, and Seria Bullen Sata, who also participated in the interview process and provided valuable feedback.

Tina officially started in her new role on January 1. Her office is located on the second floor of Elliott University Center and her contact information is as follows:

Office: 238 EUC
Email: cschestn@uncg.edu
Phone: 336-256-0422

Please feel free to reach out and welcome Tina to the team.
