Every four years, chancellors in the UNC System undergo a comprehensive review by the President of the System, in partnership with the constituent institution’s Board of Trustees. A report will ultimately go to the UNC System Board of Governors and the UNCG Board of Trustees. Chancellor Gilliam has completed four years at UNCG and will be evaluated this semester. As part of the process, the System President forms an assessment committee, which is led by Betsy Oakley, Chair of the Board of Trustees.
A random selection of the campus community, including faculty, staff, administrators, students, alumni, trustees, and other stakeholders, will be invited to complete a System survey evaluating the Chancellor’s performance. “The review process is healthy and important. From the perspective of the Board of Trustees, we are all confident in Chancellor Gilliam’s leadership and exceptionally proud of the work being done at UNCG and our prospects for the future,” Oakley said. “At the same time, the process of assessing progress and securing feedback from a range of constituents across campus is essential. It helps us and the System get an accurate, in-depth perspective on the Chancellor’s performance, specifically, as well as some broader insights into UNCG.”
