Mandatory FERPA Training for 2023-24

Posted on October 02, 2023

Students walk along College Avenue at UNCG.

Each year, all active University faculty, staff, and administrators are required to complete the Family Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) training. FERPA is a federal law that protects the privacy of student education records.

As UNCG administrators, faculty, and staff, we individually and collectively are responsible for:

  • Protecting our students’ academic records and access to those records;
  • Ensuring the integrity of UNCG students’ academic records; and
  • Complying with federal protection laws and regulations.

FERPA training ensures our knowledge of information we are allowed to release to others aside from the student, requirements, and resources, and enables us to fulfill our individual roles in protecting UNCG’s students and upholding federal law.

To maintain access to campus software, all faculty and staff must complete the course by December 31, 2023. The training will take no more than one hour to complete.

To access the course, beginning October 5, 2023, log in to uncg.instructure.com using your UNCG credentials. Complete all assigned training modules and read and accept all required institutional policies.

If you have difficulty accessing the course or have additional questions about the 2023-2024 UNCG FERPA Training, please contact the University Registrar’s Office at (336) 334-5946 or registrar@uncg.edu.

Thank you for your time and attention to this important matter.
