UNC Greensboro announces the official launch of Spartans Give, a program that supports faculty, staff, or student groups with fundraising for various projects or events that will advance their academic success and enhance the UNCG campus.

Spartans Give operates out of the Office of Advancement. It creates an infrastructure for peer-to-peer fundraising. UNCG groups can turn to this program to help raise money for equipment, travel expenses, scholarships, and other tangible resources that directly support scholarly work, campus community-building, and philanthropy and service.

Applications for Spartans Give are now open to faculty, staff, and students. The deadline to submit an application for the fall semester is September 15.

Spartans Give divides applications into two tiers based on the funding need:

  • Crowdfunding: Projects with a funding goal between $100 and $5,000
  • Micro campaigns: Projects with a funding goal greater than $5,000

All applications must go through a review process by the Spartans Give Campus Council. They are subject to all University regulations as well as state and federal law. Read more about Spartans Give requirements here.

Once approved, Advancement Communications will coordinate regularly with the applicant to develop a marketing strategy and set up a platform to reach potential donors.

Spartans Give has raised more than $32,000 since its soft launch in Fall 2022. Spartans Give is a new way to involve all members of the Spartan family – from students to alumni to parents and community partners – in promoting student success and realizing improvements to campus. It also protects donors and campaigners from the tax and personal income liabilities they may encounter with external platforms such as GoFundMe, Facebook, or Kickstarter.
