Jeannette Wade is an Associate Professor and Program Director of Human Health Sciences here at UNCG.  Her research focuses on the social determinants of Black women’s health.  Specifically, engaging understudied populations in biomedical research, using Black feminist theory and methods to contextualize trends in health outcomes, using team science to create culturally tailored, gender specific interventions, and diversifying the field of healthcare to improve patient outcomes. 

Her work has been published in the Journal of Sex Research, Sociology of Race and Ethnicity, Qualitative Health Research, Journal of Racial and Ethnic Health Disparities, the Journal of Black Sexuality and Relationships, among other outlets. 

Her research has earned national recognition, placing third in the NSF Taking Action: COVID-19 Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Challenge. 

Dr. Wade’s teaching interests include tailored approaches to health and healthcare, health equity, as well as research methods and data analysis.
