Biography

Dr. Moez Farokhnia Hamedani is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Information Systems and Supply Chain Management at the Bryan School of Business, University of North Carolina Greensboro. His research primarily focuses on cybersecurity and information privacy. He received his Ph.D. in Information Systems from the Muma College of Business at the University of South Florida. His research and teaching are driven by his passion for understanding the complex relationship between technology and organizational security. Prior to his studies, he obtained a Master’s degree in Industrial Engineering from Sharif University of Technology in Tehran, Iran, which laid the groundwork for his interdisciplinary approach to research.

In his current role, he explores the nuanced ways in which technology impacts organizations, particularly their cybersecurity postures. He is also deeply interested in, and actively conducts research on, healthcare analytics. His work aims to unravel the potential of information systems in enhancing healthcare organizational efficiency, mainly from the perspectives of cybersecurity and information privacy. He employs a diverse array of methodologies in his research, including but not limited to optimization and machine learning, guided by the principle of secondary data analysis.

His teaching portfolio reflects his focused research interests. He has developed and delivered courses on core aspects of cybersecurity, such as Principles of Cybersecurity and Global Cyber Threat Analysis, as well as data analytics courses such as Principles of Predictive Analytics. These courses are designed not just to impart knowledge but to inspire a deeper understanding of the cyber challenges and analytical opportunities that lie ahead.

His fascination with the intersection of technology and organizational behavior drives his continuous exploration of how digital advancements can bolster organizational security and efficiency. Through his research, teaching, and mentorship, he aims to equip his students with the critical skills needed to navigate and shape the future of information systems and cybersecurity.
