UNC Greensboro offers a number of scholarships, assistantships, and fellowships for students who demonstrate academic promise and/or financial need. Most scholarships are application-based, though certain undergraduate applicants may be considered automatically for specific scholarship opportunities. Read on for an overview of these scholarships and how to apply.

FIRST YEAR AND TRANSFER SCHOLARSHIPS

First year and transfer applicants are automatically considered for a number of scholarship opportunities based on merit and financial need. Awards range in value and duration, including four-year, full-tuition scholarships.

To apply, students should complete their admissions application and submit a FAFSA early, by the priority scholarship deadline listed on the undergraduate admissions website.

UNCG Guarantee

High-achieving, low-income North Carolina students who have applied to UNCG as full-time first year students can apply to be a part of the UNCG Guarantee program.

UNCG Guarantee includes financial and academic support plus opportunities for honors and study abroad.

To apply, students should submit their admissions application by the priority deadline, file a FAFSA, and complete the eligibility screening on the UNCG Guarantee website.

NEXT NC SCHOLARSHIP

The Next NC Scholarship is a financial aid program that helps most North Carolinians making $80,000 or less pay for their tuition and fees to attend any community college or public university in the state.

Eligible students attending a public university will receive at least $5,000. This is money that doesn’t have to be repaid. The scholarship combines the federal Pell Grant with the state-funded financial aid program into a simplified, predictable scholarship award for North Carolina students.

Scholarships for International Students

UNC Greensboro offers merit-based International Student Scholarships for one academic year to new incoming international students. This award is renewable for one additional year, based on merit, and no separate application is required. Recipients will be notified on March 15 (priority application date) and June 1st (final application date) for Fall semester, September 15th  (priority application date) and December 1st (final application date) for Spring semester.

Scholarship and funding options are also available from outside programs and organizations. However, most international students should avoid scholarships that require the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) because they will only be eligible if they are on certain immigrant visa types.
