Ellen Ashley

In my spare time, I enjoy reading, growing a vegetable garden, canning pickles, cooking and baking. I have been known to make a wedding cake or two, but my favorite hobby to engage in is making pottery. I have a pottery studio in my garage where I like to throw on the wheel, in addition to hand-building and sculpting. I am a licensed cosmetologist and still enjoy doing hair, but I especially like to assist older folks with their grooming needs if they are not able to go to a salon due to health problems. I am currently a certified health coach and enjoy working with UNCG employees through Healthy UNCG, the employee wellness program. I have a daughter who is a pre-school teacher. She attended UNCG at the same time as I did, graduated from HDFS with her Birth through Kindergarten certification, and currently teaches for Seawell’s Daycare.
