Faculty and staff are encouraged to wear blue and gold on Monday and greet first-year students during the annual NAV1GATE New Student Convocation taking place Monday, Aug. 15 from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Welcome new students in person or on social media by using the event hashtag #NAV1GATEUNCG.

Students will hear from Chancellor Gilliam, participate in Spartan traditions, and connect with deans, faculty, staff, student leaders, and peers regarding student success services and personal support resources available to them.

Faculty and staff should be aware of the following street closures during the day:

  • Spring Garden Street will be closed Eastbound at Josephine Boyd Street and Westbound at Tate Street from approximately Noon-12:30 p.m. as students transition from the main campus to the Kaplan Wellness Center.
  • Forest Street will be closed from Spring Garden Street to Oakland Avenue from Noon-12:30 p.m. as students make their way through the pedestrian tunnel to Gate City Blvd.
  • Expect some delays on West Gate City Boulevard at Glenwood Street from Noon-12:30 p.m. as we cross students at that intersection to make their way to the Kaplan Center.
