October 5th is Founders Day, which is always a special anniversary day at UNCG. It marks the first day of classes on this campus nearly 130 years ago, on Oct. 5, 1892. It also honors the founders and early leaders of this university, particularly the first president, Charles Duncan McIver.

This year, Oct. 5 marks something more, something huge: the public launch of UNCG’s first comprehensive fundraising campaign in 15 years.

Throughout the day, volunteers will be positioned at various spots on campus to hand out giveaways and treats and share information about the campaign. All the campus community is invited to join in the celebration of our UNCG history – and its exciting future.

At 1 p.m. at Charlie’s Yard in front of Jackson Library, enjoy cupcakes, a photo booth, a dj – and lots of swag.

On one section of Kaplan Commons, an installation of lights will call attention to the many donors – over 18,0000 so far – who are already part of this campaign.

Wear blue and gold on Founders Day and look for an email announcement from the Chancellor. the morning of Oct. 5.

And watch for another story on UNCG News next week for the full details on the big, transformative campaign.
