Folksongs of America:
The Robert Winslow Gordon Collection
As part of its celebration of the 75th anniversary of the Archive of Folk Culture, the American Folklife Center is re-issuing these recordings from the Robert Winslow Gordon Collection as an online publication. These wax cylinder field recordings, encompasing a variety of American folksongs collected by the founder of the Archive, were first issued on LP in 1978.

The American Folklife Center at the Library of Congress was created by Congress in 1976 "to preserve and present American Folklife." The Center incorporates the Archive of Folk Culture, which was established at the Library in 1928 as a repository for American Folk Music. The Center and its collections have grown to encompass all aspects of folklore and folklife from this country and around the world.
