Islam online: based in Qatar this site gives a good window onto attitudes and problems encountered in the Middle East.

Council on American-Islamic Relations: CAIR is dedicated to presenting an Islamic perspective on issues of importance to the American public.

Islamic Association for Palestine: dedicated to ending Israeli occupation and freeing the Palestinian people through the dissemination of information.

Middle East Directory: a search engine that bills itself as the largest English-language guide to Middle East related web sites.

Al-Huda: a cultural newsletter dedicated to promoting the Islamic heritage and culture, it seeks to increase the general public’s knowledge about Islam.

Al-Qur'an was-Sunnah Society: the purpose of this site is to present visitors with an authentic source of Islamic information and help Muslims and Non-Muslims learn about Islam.

Islamic World: a page dedicated to knowledge and transformation.

National Security Archive: this site declassifies foreign policy related documents from the US government and posts them on the web; see in particular the section on "US Propaganda in the Middle East: The Early Cold War Version"

Revolutionary Associaton of the Women of Afghanistan (RAWA): this is the site of the famous organization founded by Meena in 1977 that describes itself as "freedom-loving and anti-fundamentalist."

Interpreting Veils: This site looks at the different types of veils worn by women around the Muslim world as well as at the historical origins of and questions raised by the practice of wearing the veil.

Iraq Body Count: The worldwide update of reported civilian casualties in the war on Iraq. 

Al-Haq (Law in the Service of Man): This is the site for the organization begun by Raja Shehadeh, author of Strangers in the House.

American Friends Service Committee: This specific link within the broader page includes an interview with author Raja Shehadeh conducted in March, 2002. 

The Edward Said Archive: This page is not maintained nor sanctioned by Edward Said, but offers quick and easy access to a lot of his writings, as well as to information regarding controversies he has become embroiled in.
